As the Wrecking Ball listening tour comes to a close, we’re honored to have been chosen to host the stream for We Are Alive, the song that closes out the album.

After being introduced to various characters throughout the first ten songs on the album, We Are Alive introduces us to past victims. To our ears, Bruce seems to be reminding us that many different times and in many different ways, we have been here before — that countless others have also been tripped up in their pursuit of the elusive American Dream.

Yet the ghosts tell us “We Are Alive” — we are not a nation of fatalists — and the Dream lives on. The song isn’t so much closure as it is a beginning…

The stream will be live for just 24 hours, going dark at 11:59 pm EST March 2.

However, fans will be able to stream the entire album starting Monday, March 5 at 12:01 am EST until Tuesday, March 6 at 11:59 pm EST at BruceSpringsteen.net.

The album is released Tuesday, March 6.

And while we’re at it, if you missed the band’s appearance to kick off Bruce Springsteen week on Fallon, make sure you take a look. We’ve mentioned before that the sound quality on Fallon is possibly the best on television, and this performance is just another example.

Dunno how you fo it Bruce, but your a bit, to me at least,
A musical documentary of the life I led.
Wish I could see your show again, but I times are tough.
Carry on old buddy. Love ya man.

just bought the cd, listening to it right now…..
    I think it´s a masterpiece, one more!!!!
listening to it on the internet, I was not quite sure, whether to like it or not, but for me, being a non.native speaker it reveals it´s magic when i can follow the lyrics in the booklet!
looking foreward to see Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band in Berlin in May and in Roskilde in July, these being my first live concerts, even though i am an addicted fan since 1978, since I received the “Darkness” album as a gift from a former schoolmate. Thanks again for this, Chris!

Oh, man!! What an absolutely great song, especially as the closer of the regular album realese. It’s got everything. It’s like Bruce put a little bit of his whole career into this song. Not alot of the beach feel, but to take it’s place we hear an old scratchy LP. Fabulous lyrics and beat. Then, we have Bruce’s banjo player I’m supposing from The Seeger Sessions(or, it could be Bruce). An instant classic, Bruce.

I know this isn’t the place, but what a relief from watching Good Morning America with Coldplay. Songs that start off ok, but every one droning on and on. I could not sit through their show. But, I sure could stand for 3 and 1/2 or more hours in an E Street Band show. God Bless you “C”. I heard the inferences to you in “We Are Alive”. Yes, yes, you are alive in our hearts. thank you.

  8. Joel Gabor says:

You know … I’ve been a Bruce fan since the very beginning, and I continue to be amazed by how he never disappoints me.

Be it working our way through the trials and tribulations of finding relationships and life meaning through the exuberance of youth, friendship, girls, and cars, or dealing with the commitment, the self analysis and the unknown that comes with true love and marriage, or working our way through loss, grief, and the daily struggles to achieve whatever dream we may be chasing, Bruce’s music and lyrics are always there as the soundtrack to our journey.

This new album is another example of him, as an artist at the top of his craft, making us think and motivating us to get involved if we truly want to make a difference.

I personally thank him for this new music, and I look forward to the revival on the road during the upcoming tour. We’ll see you up the road!

nice, like this one, 3 words though..Ring Of Fire

Well, this is the only ‘ok’ song from a record that has limited artistic quality. Strange choice of producer. I miss the influence from Bob Clearmountain and Toby Scott in the ‘maschine room’. Bruce voice not warm at all and with nothing but linear tone lining. To much noice from all to many instruments. Miss the Old Bruce, both the singer and the songwriter. Passed it long ago, except Devils and Dust.

  11. Bill N. says:

“We Are Alive” because of Bruce! The man’s a genious. Nuff’ said!

  12. Jimi Buckeye says:

I’ve seen Bruce solo and with E Street and it’s a thrill every time. Here I see Bruce THRASHING with the full agility and intensity of a punk rocker as American hopes, dreams, asperations and rock’n'roll and culture and freedom slowly emerge from the long slide that landed at rock bottom during the corruption and dictatorship of the Dumbya era. I am grateful for the opportunities to hear the new album before it’s released, can’t to get it. It’s another masterpiece – needed for these times.
