You have to assume that when Alabama Shakes were booked into the FMQB’s Triple A Radio Conference, the buzz was at a minimum.

Between that booking and the actual date, everything changed. CMJ buzz turned into SXSW hysteria, with public radio turning on Commercial AAA radio, who crossed the band to Alternative.

So when the band took the stage at The Fox Theatre, they were no longer there to try to make first-time impressions so much as they were there to make a lasting impression.

Hold On is a bona fide smash for the “it” band of 2012.

Now the band needs to overcome any media fatigue and deliver another hit. They’ll try to do that with I Ain’t the Same.

At their conference showcase, Alabama Shakes impressed. Anyone who saw them a year ago had to notice a tighter band, and a stage presence from Brittany Howard that suggested stardom ahead.

We shot a couple of songs for our sister-site TheBluesMobile.com. Check out their development in our exclusive video from that show…

Always Alright
