WXPN Creates a Music Scene The Old Fashioned Way — From Scratch

Bruce Warren and WXPN has teamed with the Weathervane Music Project to support as many as 20 new artists over the next two years. The project, called “Shaking Through” is just XPN’s latest entrepreneurial adventure….
Get ready to get schooled again by XPN.
In a time when a robust music scene can hardly be taken for granted, XPN goes old school, marrying the arts patron model to the indie rock scene.
Teaming up with the Weathervane Music Project, WXPN will lend financial and promotional support to 15-20 acts over the next two years.
Considering the ears involved, it’s practically can’t-miss. The artist gets support, the community gets a scene, and the station gets content — much less lots of love for doing the right thing.

This is exciting. I’m a long time listener to WXPN. I have been a Music Director and Broadcaster in NY, NY and PA.
I have witnessed firsthand the restrictive power exerted over bands and solo artist who never get the chance to be heard, even more so now than in earlier decades with the deregulation of radio.
With your permission we would like to highlight your project with the Pennsylvania Museum of Music and Broadcast History http://www.pmmbh.org
